Cruise countdown

Free cruise countdown

Track days until your next cruise. Add ships and embarkation dates, automatically include sailings from roll calls you’ve joined, and share a fun countdown image of your six closest upcoming cruises.

How the cruise countdown works

  1. Add a ship and embarkation date to your countdown.
  2. Signed-in sailors also see sailings from roll calls they’ve joined.
  3. Tap Share for an instant graphic of your six closest upcoming cruises.

How the cruise countdown fits together

A practical breakdown of the live tool, complementary to the longer cruise countdown journal guide.

What this page is doing

The top of this page is the working tool: your next sailing in big numbers, the full list underneath, and share. Use the Widgets button for a short how-to on adding a home-screen countdown. Everything below is the field guide: how the pieces fit together, what syncs when you sign in, and answers people ask before embarkation week.

If you want the longer narrative on why countdowns caught on in roll call culture, read the journal guide. This section stays closer to the product itself: what each control means and how to use it without overthinking the setup.

Building a list that stays honest

Add a cruise with the real embarkation and return dates, not just the month. The hero countdown sorts by the soonest start date, so a weekend getaway next month correctly outranks a longer voyage later in the year.

Manual entries are yours to edit or remove. Roll call sailings appear automatically once you’re signed in and you’ve joined that sailing’s chat; they stay linked to the group, so leaving the roll call drops them from Up Next without wiping ships you added by hand.

Trying it before you create an account

Guests can add a sailing immediately. It lives in this browser’s cache so you can feel the countdown and share graphic without a signup wall. After the first add, CruiseStar nudges you to create an account so the same list follows you on phone and desktop.

When you do sign in, cached sailings migrate into your account. From then on, Up Next on your profile shows how many ships you have sailing soon, and the same list feeds widgets and share cards.

Sharing and home-screen widgets

Share compiles your six closest upcoming cruises into an instant image, the same canvas path CruiseStar uses for ships and sailors, so Facebook roll calls and group chats get something visual, not just a link.

Want the countdown on your phone’s home screen? Use the Widgets button above for quick steps. On Android, long-press the home screen, open the system Widgets list, pick CruiseStar’s single or list countdown, and choose which sailings show when you place it.

After the countdown

When the day count gets small, jump into the ship page for ratings and reviews, join or revisit the sailing chat, and line up ducks or packing notes early. The countdown is the calendar spine; CruiseStar’s ship logs and chats are where the trip planning actually happens.

Cruise countdown FAQ

Quick answers about accounts, roll calls, sharing, widgets, and how Up Next stays in sync.

What is a cruise countdown?
A cruise countdown is a running tally of days left until embarkation. CruiseStar’s free tool puts your next ship in large numbers, lists every upcoming sailing you’ve added or joined via roll call, and can share a graphic of your closest cruises.
Is the CruiseStar cruise countdown free?
Yes. The tool is free on the web and in the app. You can try it as a guest with browser cache, then create a free account to sync across devices and pull in roll call sailings.
Do I need an account to use it?
No. Guests can add cruises and see the countdown immediately. Creating an account saves the list, migrates anything you already added on this device, and unlocks roll-call sailings plus home-screen widgets in the app.
How do I add a cruise to the countdown?
Tap Add cruise, choose the cruise line and ship, then set embarkation and return dates. The tool sorts by the soonest start date and highlights that sailing as Up Next.
Can I track more than one cruise?
Yes. Add as many upcoming sailings as you need. The hero shows the next one; Your sailings lists the rest with individual day counts. Share uses the six closest.
Does it include roll call sailings I’ve joined?
When you’re signed in, sailing roll calls you’ve joined appear automatically in Up Next alongside manual entries. They’re labeled as roll call and stay in sync with your chat membership.
Can I share my cruise countdown?
Yes. The Share button builds an instant image of your six closest upcoming cruises for Instagram, Facebook roll call groups, Texts, and other share sheets, with no waiting on a server render.
Where does Up Next on my profile come from?
Up Next on your profile is the count of upcoming sailings in this tool (manual plus signed-in roll calls). Tap it to open this countdown page.
Can I put the countdown on my phone’s home screen?
Yes. In the CruiseStar app, long-press your home screen and add a CruiseStar countdown widget from the system widget list. On Android you pick single or list style there, then choose which cruises show when you place the widget. The Widgets button on this page has the short how-to.
What’s the difference between the single and list widgets?
Single shows one sailing with a large days-remaining number, ideal for your next trip. List shows up to four upcoming cruises with day counts for each. Pick either one from Android’s widget drawer when you add it to the home screen.
What happens to guest sailings after I sign in?
Sailings saved in this browser are migrated into your account the next time you open the countdown while signed in, then cleared from local cache so you don’t see duplicates.
Can I remove a cruise from the countdown?
Manual entries can be removed with the × on each row. Roll call sailings are removed by leaving that sailing’s roll call chat; they aren’t deleted as standalone countdown rows.
Why should I use real embarkation dates?
The countdown and share graphic sort by start date. Accurate embark and return dates keep Up Next honest, help widgets stay useful, and match how roll call groups label sailings.
Is this the same as the cruise countdown blog post?
No. The journal guide covers culture, habits, and share tips in long form. This page is the live tool plus a practical breakdown and FAQ. Use both: build the countdown here, read the guide when you want deeper ideas.
