What's actually included on Norwegian Cruise Line

Drinks, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, and daily gratuities on Norwegian, what comes with the fare, what is a paid add-on, and what changes by promotion.

·

Norwegian Cruise Line markets bundled perks harder than most lines, which makes it easy to assume more is included than actually is. The base fare covers the cabin, main dining rooms, and standard entertainment. Everything else, drinks, Wi-Fi, specialty dining, gratuities, depends on the promotion running when you booked.

The promotional packages move

Norwegian regularly bundles a drink package, Wi-Fi minutes, and specialty dining credits into a promotional offer, and the exact combination changes throughout the year. Treat any list of "what's free" as a snapshot of one sailing, not a permanent policy, and confirm the current offer on Norwegian's site before you book. Unexpected add-ons are also one of the most common first-time mega-ship mistakes, so build them into the budget before comparing fares.

Gratuities are separate either way

Whether or not your fare includes a drink package, the daily service charge is a separate line added to the onboard account per person, per day. It is not folded into a drink promotion, it is a standalone policy that applies to every cabin.

Specialty dining is a credit, not unlimited access

When specialty dining is bundled into a promotion, it is usually a fixed number of meals, not a season pass to every alternative restaurant. Extra visits or premium venues still cost extra on top.

Wi-Fi minutes run out

Bundled Wi-Fi is often a set number of devices or minutes per day, not unlimited streaming-grade internet. Heavy users should check the fine print before assuming the free tier covers a full workday online.

The CruiseStar angle

A ship's CruiseStar score reflects the vessel and the sailing experience, not the promotion you booked under. Two sailors on the same ship can have very different final bills depending on which package was active when they reserved, rate the ship, but budget for the fare you actually locked in.

Sailed Norwegian recently under a specific promo? Log the sailing so the notes are useful to the next person comparing offers. New sailors should also check the mega-ship mistakes first-time cruisers make before embarkation.
